Veryst adds FTIR microscope to materials analysis lab

Veryst is excited to announce that we have expanded our materials analysis capabilities by adding a Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) microscope to our materials analysis lab.

Participation in ASTM Medical Device Committee
Dr. Stuart Brown attended the ASTM Medical Device Committee (F04) meeting in Tampa, Florida, November 16-17, 2011. He participated in subcommittee meetings involved in standard development on absorbable polymers, PEEK, tissue-engineering medical products (TEMPS) and orthopaedic devices.

Dr. Jorgen Bergstrom discussed “Advanced Material Models for Rubbers, Thermoplastics, and Composites” as a keynote speaker at this event in Lund, Sweden.
Presentation at ANTEC 2021
Dr. Sean Teller offered an on-demand presentation titled "Tensile Specimen Preparation Method Impacting Failure Behavior" at ANTEC Classic 2021, which took place online May 10-21, 2021. He discussed his investigation of the effect of the sample creation process on the results from standard tensile tests.

Dr. Mark Oliver spoke about “Preventing Failure of Polymeric Additively Manufactured Parts Through Testing and Simulation” at the Rapid + TCT conference.
Presentation at Thermoplastic Elastomers Conference 2018
Dr. Sean Teller spoke about "Methods for Impact Testing of Thermoplastic Elastomers and Elastomers" at the Thermoplastic Elastomers Conference 2018. He discussed the need for high-strain rate testing of elastomers and TPEs, as well as test methods.

Dr. Jorgen Bergstrom was co-author (in collaboration with Maureen Dreher and Srinidhi Nagaraja of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration) of two presentations given at the 10th World Biomaterials Congress,
Presentation on Advanced Testing, Material Modeling of Polymers at NAFEMS Americas
Dr. Sean Teller presented "Advanced Testing and Material Modeling of Polymers" at NAFEMS Americas Regional Conference 2022 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He discussed advanced mechanical characterization techniques, test methods, and state-of-the art material modelling tools.
Presentation on impact testing and modeling of polymer foams
Dr. Sean Teller spoke about "Impact Testing and Modeling of Energy Absorbing Foams for Finite Element Simulation" at the Foam Expo 2017.  His presentation focused on high strain-rate testing and modeling of foams for use in finite element simulations. 
Presentation on using DIC test data for material modeling at NAFEMS World Congress
Dr. Sean Teller discussed "Utilizing Test Data from DIC for Polymer Material Modeling," describing the information an engineer can extract with Digital Image Correlation and how best to use full field strain data. The presentation took place on the fourth day of NAFEMS World Congress 2021, which was fully online this year.
Presentations at ANTEC 2017 conference
Dr. Sean Teller and Dr. Mark Oliver presented at ANTEC 2017. Dr. Teller’s presentation was titled “High Strain Rate Testing and Modeling of Polymers for Use in Finite Element Simulations.”  Dr. Oliver’s presentation was titled “Testing and Modeling Anisotropic Failure of Polymeric SLS Materials and Structures.”
