Introduction to Abaqus Python Scripting
Free, One-hour Webinar
This new, web-based class will introduce users to Python scripting with Abaqus, a powerful tool enabling Abaqus users to parameterize models, automate workflows, and even enable functionality that is otherwise inaccessible due to severe repeatability. In this class we will introduce you to Python scripting within the Abaqus environment, teach you how to get started, and showcase some basic capabilities through simple, instructive examples.

Course Instructor
Dr. Nikolaos Vasios is a Senior Engineer at Veryst Engineering. Dr. Vasios has expertise in the numerical modeling and finite element analysis of nonlinear solids and structures, with a specific focus on metamaterials and soft robotic applications. His research, primarily driven by computational tools, combines numerical methods, analytical solutions, and experiments for the inverse design and optimization of diverse products, including mechanical metamaterials and soft robots.
Dr. Vasios has extensive finite element analysis experience and was one of the first worldwide recipients of the Abaqus Structural Analysis Associate certification by Dassault Systèmes.
Prerequisites
This course is intended for people with some experience in Abaqus and Abaqus CAE and some familiarity with Python, looking to expand their toolbox by means of Python scripting. The course will NOT cover the basics of using Abaqus CAE or teach users the Python programming language. Rather, the webinar will teach you how to use Python within Abaqus CAE effectively and efficiently.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this class, you will be able to:
- understand the basic structure behind Abaqus Python scripting, which ultimately enables users to:
- parameterize models
- automate workflows (model generation, results extraction, etc.)
- enable new functionality
- write simple python scripts to assist you with Abaqus model development and workflow
- teach yourself how to learn new Python Abaqus commands to keep expanding your scripting toolbox
Course Materials
Everyone who registers for the course will receive a pdf copy of the training class notes. Notes are for personal use and cannot be modified, shared or redistributed.
