Dr. Alireza Kermani’s study of airflow in a hospital room was highlighted in a blog from SimScale simulation software. Efficient ventilation can contribute to reducing the energy consumption of buildings and minimize the risk of airborne infection in hospital rooms. The blog describes how Dr. Kermani used CFD (computational fluid dynamics) to simulate ventilation in the hospital rooms well as the dispersion of bacterial particles. In addition to providing results of his simulations, Dr. Kermani offers suggestions for design optimization for operating room ventilation.
