Dr. Matthew Hancock and Dr. Sean Teller spoke at the Pre Filled Syringes and Injectable Drug Devices East Coast conference held in Boston, MA, April 22-24, 2024.  They made a joint presentation and then participated in a panel discussion.

In their talk “Multiphysics Simulation and Testing in Combination Product Design & Verification: Reducing Patient Risk,” Dr. Hancock and Dr. Teller discussed how a multi-disciplinary approach based on multiphysics simulation, material testing, and materials science can effectively and efficiently solve product development challenges across combination products, from autoinjectors to perfusion systems, end-use systems, and manufacturing.  They showed how this collaborative approach can support the entire product lifecycle, from ideation through to manufacturing and product use, including product failures, to reduce patient and business risk, design cycle time, and manufacturing costs.

This presentation was on April 23, 2024 as part of Stream A: Developing Devices for Challenging to Delivery Drugs.

Following the presentation, Dr. Hancock and Dr. Teller joined a panel with the other speakers in their session.  This panel, titled "Enabling Successful Drug Delivery Through On Body Devices and Advanced Technologies," addressed such topics as:

  • key hurdles in delivering larger volumes and novel drug products and potential ways to address them
  • ensuring stakeholder buy-in for the evolving injectables landscape
  • the outlook on expectations from industry and vendors for the future of injectable drug delivery
