Jorgen Bergstrom, Ph.D., made the following paper presentations at recent industry conferences.

“A Constitutive Model for Simple Wheat Flour Dough,” paper presented at Dough Day at the University of Sydney, February 2010 (with S. Bell).

“A new material model framework for predicting the small-strain dynamic behavior of elastomers,” paper presented at FEM-Materialmodelle mit Mullins- und Payne-Effekt Meeting at Deutsches Institut für Kautschuktechnologie, November 2009.

“Rheological model for wheat flour dough,” paper presented at Xth International Gluten Workshop, Clermont Ferrand, France, September 2009 (with S. Bell).

Jorgen Bergstrom, Ph.D., with Wayne Falk, Ph.D. and Virginia Giddings, Ph.D. both of Abbott Vascular, co-authored the abstract: Deployment Mechanics of a Bioabsorbable Coronary Scaffold. The abstract has been chosen for presentation at the Device Podium session of the FDA/NHLBI/NSF Cardiovascular Device Computational Modeling workshop, June 1-2, 2009 in Rockville, MD.

Jorgen Bergstrom, Ph.D. presented the paper, “Advanced Characterization of the Compression Behavior of Polyethylene”, at the 55th Annual Meeting of the Orthopaedic Research Society, February 2009 in Las Vegas NV (with J. Bischoff, F. Wentoft).

Patents Issued
Stuart Brown, Ph.D., and Brian Hendrickson, were issued Patent 7,626,279 B2, titled Patent: “Method and Apparatus for Energy Harvesting Using Rotational Energy Storage and Release”. An energy harvester is provided for converting an input force into electrical energy and also allowing for energy to be stored and then released at a later time.

Stuart Brown, Ph.D. and Brian Hendrickson, were issued Patent 7,605,482 B2, titled Patent: “Method and Apparatus for Energy Harvesting Using Energy Storage and Release”. An energy harvester is provided for converting an input force into electrical energy and also allowing for energy to be stored and then released at a later time. 

Stuart Brown, Ph.D., was issued Patent 7,505,244, titled Patent: “Micro-switches for Downhole Use”. This patent describes a microsized, high voltage switch for the activation of perforating guns used in oil extraction.
